Elder Master John Keller

Master John is an 8th-degree black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu and serves as a mentor and advisor to other Shaolin instructors in Idaho and the western United States.

He is authorized by Grandmaster Sin Kwang Thé to teach the Shaolin art, and over the years he has taught hundreds of students. Many of his students have earned the title of black belt and black sash, and several have entered the Mastery levels.

Background

Master John was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. He started his martial arts training in 1978. In 1980 he moved to Denver, Colorado and there he started training in Shaolin Kung Fu. For over 43 years he has dedicated his time and energy to training in Shaolin's numerous fighting styles and techniques. His proficiency and expertise in the areas of Tai Chi Ch'uan, Pa Kua Chang, Hsing-I Ch'uan, Tiger Kung Fu, Leopard Kung Fu, Northern Kung Fu, and Southern Kung Fu styles, along with a wide variety of short range and long-range weapons makes him one of the more well-known experts on Chinese Martial Arts in the Pacific Northwest.

In 1996 Master John had the privilege to travel to China and visit several Buddhist and Taoist monasteries to perform in joint cultural martial arts demonstrations. He was part of a group of Shaolin students from the US who were the first foreigners to perform in a joint Kung Fu demonstration at the famed “Wu Tang Monastery” atop Wu Tang Mountain in central China.

To this day he continues his training and education directly with the Grandmaster of Shaolin, Sin K. Thé.
